For Race Officers

Publish Sailwave Results Live On Your Club Website

The Sailwave file uploads straight from the laptop in the race hut. Series standings, fleet filters, and corrected-time tables appear on your public site within seconds — no plugin, no second upload, no manual web work.

The race officer workflow

Sailwave is already where most UK clubs score handicap racing — the spreadsheets, the configurations, the Portsmouth Yardstick adjustments, the discard rules. The barrier is rarely the scoring; it is the gap between the laptop in the race hut and the public website members and visitors actually read. Yacht Clubs Manager closes that gap with a workflow in three steps.

Step one: the race officer scores the session in Sailwave on the laptop in the race hut as usual — nothing about Sailwave changes, no plugin to install, no new file format to learn. Step two: the standard Sailwave export — HTML or BLW — is saved locally. Step three: the same file is uploaded through the admin console on the club's race results page. The platform parses series standings, fleet filters, corrected times, and per-race breakdowns, and the public-facing results page reflects the new data on the next refresh. The whole process from finish line to published standings takes the same amount of time the race officer already spends in Sailwave, with one upload step bolted on.

What members and visitors see

The race results page sits on the public website — sailing results are public-facing, not behind a member login, because that is how visiting boats, prospective members, and the rest of the local racing community check standings. The page renders the results as a sortable table with rank, sail number, boat, helm, points, and discards, plus fleet filters, search by sail number, and a per-race breakdown that drills into each individual race in the series. It works on a phone in the car park straight after racing as well as on a desktop later in the evening.

Live updates as the scorer reuploads

The reality of Wednesday evening racing is that the first Sailwave file usually goes up with provisional times, and a second version follows once corrected times and any redress decisions are sorted. The platform handles this by treating each upload as the new authoritative version — the same URL members and visitors shared earlier just refreshes with the latest standings on the next page load. No URL changes, no "republished" notification spam, no broken links from the post-race email that already went out.

Beyond results — the rest of the platform

Sailwave integration is the entry point for many clubs, but it is one feature among many. Once the public results are live, clubs typically expand into the rest of the platform — the duty roster for member-managed swaps and reminders, the event management module for taking online entries for the same race series Sailwave is scoring, and communications for the post-race newsletter with the latest standings linked from the body. The wider context is on the sailing club software page.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. The standard Sailwave export — HTML or BLW — uploads through the admin console and parses into series standings, fleet filters, and corrected-time tables on the public race-results page. There is no custom export format to learn.
